Well, at least the pace of rising gas prices has slowed down.
The average price of gas in the Sacramento area rose just 0.4 cents to $3.61 a gallon over the past week, according to the latest weekly report by SactoGasPrices.com, a GasBuddy.com website.
The small gain comes on the heels of several significant price spikes since Christmas Day.
Local pump prices are now 31.1 cents per gallon higher than they were one year ago and 15 cents higher than last month.
The nationwide average was up 1.1 cents over the past week, settling at $3.34 a gallon. That's 10.3 cents higher than last month and 27.2 cents higher than last year.
"Gasoline prices have slowed their rise in the last week as oil prices have temporarily stabilized," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy's senior petroleum analyst. "I'm sure this leveling off in retail price won't last terribly long as tension mounts with Iran.
"I still expect 2012 to be a nasty year for the typical motorist ... "
