The Bee posse's weekly update of the latest in area conditions, bargains, etc.

Course - What you need to know

Ancil Hoffman - Greens good – holding approach shots and not too fast; several tee boxes have little grass coverage; 55 percent of course's rounds accounted for by players who walk, maybe more than at any regulation-length course in area

Campus Commons - No frost delays, so if you want to complete a quick nine while your buddies at other courses are in a finger-tapping holding pattern, here's your chance

Haggin Oaks - Players 60 and older account for 42 percent of weekday rounds at MacKenzie; new superintendent has his hands full with lots of hardpan

Teal Bend - Conditions strong; part of a package membership deal (with Empire Ranch and Turkey Creek) whereby unlimited play without restriction, cart and range at three courses is $299 per month for a single and $399 for a family

Turkey Creek - Several trees whose roots were negatively impacting greens are history, most prominently on Nos. 2 and 12; $10 off Sunday (at Empire Ranch, too) if sporting something NFL-related

Wildhawk - Great/dry conditions – at least for another day on greens and fairways
