What: Mickey Hart studied a range of percussion instruments from around the world, then introduced the Grateful Dead's followers. He continues to grow and to teach. The rhythm master performs in an intimate setting.

Concrete Blonde

What: Johnette Napolitano has one of rock's most sexy, haunting voices. She and James Mankey have formed the solid core of this band since the 1980s, with Gabriel Ramirez joining them in 2002. Independent musician and singer Jim Bianco opens the show.

What: Sure, your eyes will marvel at the size of the 12-foot-tall, 10,000-pound machines and their ability to rip through, soar over and smash up all matter of matter. But if you don't bring along earplugs, the deafening sounds might leave your ears marveling at how little they can hear for a while.

Harmonica blowout

What: Welcome back Mark Hummel and other fine blues musicians, all performing a tribute to the mighty harmonica and to virtuoso Little Walter Jacobs. The lineup will include Charlie Musselwhite, Curtis Salgado, Billy Boy Arnold and Sugar Ray Norcia.

Trappers, trades, and treaties

What: Experience how trappers lived and worked back in the 1840s when they had new territory still to discover and native inhabitants to barter with. You can also examine fur pelts, write with a quill pen and oak gall ink, or string beads.

David Garrett N

What: This violinist integrates classical progressions into pop and rock music tunes, as with his dashing rendition of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal." Garrett has the chops to do it, winning the Composition Competition at Juilliard School in 2003 with a fugue composed in the style of Johann Sebastian Bach.
