Sacramento has been chosen for Monday's first day of issue for new postage stamps with a bonsai theme.
The city was chosen as the stamp dedication locale because it has the oldest bonsai tree clubs in the country, said Ralph Petty, spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service.
The stamps will be shown at the Iva Gard Shepard Garden and Arts Center in McKinley Park at 10 a.m.
The five different stamps show Sierra juniper, trident maple, black pine, azalea and banyan plants in a variety of bonsai styles.
They are "Forever" stamps, so they will always be equal to whatever the first-class one-ounce postage rate is.
