Local College Hoops: UC Davis' losing streak at 15 after blowout loss

Orlando Johnson scored 21 points, leading five UC Santa Barbara players in double figures, and the Gauchos rolled to an 86-59 victory over host UC Davis on Thursday night – the 15th straight loss for the Aggies. Jaime Serna scored 18 points for the Gauchos (10-7, 5-2 Big West Conference).

Tyler Les scored 16 to lead the Aggies (1-18, 0-7), whose only win came against Division III UC Santa Cruz.

Women

Sacramento State 83, Weber State 68 in Ogden, Utah – The Hornets won their first road game behind a record-setting show by Alle Moreno, Sac State reported. Moreno made 8 of 13 three-pointers and scored 26 points. The eight three-pointers were the most for a Sac State woman in a Big Sky Conference game. Erika Edwards made seven against Montana in 2009-10.

Sacramento State improved to 8-13 overall, 3-5 in Big Sky games. Weber State is 2-18, and 0-7 in the Big Sky.

UC Davis 51, UC Santa Barbara 47 in Santa Barbara – The Aggies won their fourth consecutive game to move into second place in the Big West Conference, UC Davis reported.

Hannah Stephens made 4 of 5 three-pointers and scored 16 points, while Samantha Meggison had 15 points and seven rebounds as the Aggies (13-6, 5-2 Big West) held off the Gauchos (8-10, 3-4).

UC Santa Barbara rallied to get within 48-45 with 21 seconds left. But Meggison made 3 of 4 free throws to seal the win.
