Weak storm brings slight chance of rain to Northern California

A weak Pacific storm is forecast to move along the coastal range tonight, nudging into the interior of Northern California and bringing with it the slight chance of rain.

The system is a weak one, not expected to produce even as much as a tenth of an inch of precipitation in the Central Valley and only an inch of snow in the Sierra Nevada, according to the National Weather Service.

This morning, a dense fog advisory has been issued until 10 a.m. in the Central Valley. Look for partly sunny skies after the fog burns off.

The detailed, 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: Areas of dense fog before 10am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 58. Light and variable wind.

Tonight: A 20 percent chance of rain after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. Light southwest wind. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of rain before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 60. Northwest wind between 3 and 8 mph.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 40. North northwest wind around 8 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 64. North northwest wind between 8 and 10 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 37.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 63.

Friday night: Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 36.

Saturday: Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 63.

Saturday night: Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 37.

Sunday: Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 63.

Sunday night: Patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 37.

Monday: Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 63.
