Mira Loma High School once again will be defending its National Science Bowl title in Washington D.C. in April.
The high school was the winner of the Western Area Power Administration Sacramento High School Science Bowl held at Rio Americano High School on Saturday. Team members won an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to compete in the national finals April 26-30.
The Mira Loma team is the defending champion of the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl, taking home top honors last year.
They are no stranger to the event. Coach James Hill has brought a Mira Loma team to the national competition 12 times -- winning it twice.
Saturday they competed against 24 other teams in the regional competition of the annual National Science Bowl.
More than 13,000 students across the nation compete in over 100 regional Science Bowl tournaments sponsored by federal agencies, national laboratories, educational institutes or non-profit organizations.
