Today will be mostly dry in the Sacramento area, with the next significant rain due late Sunday night, the National Weather Service reports.
The morning is starting out cloudy, but the skies should clear later today and remain that way into early Sunday.
Today's high is forecast at 64 degrees in Sacramento with a chance of isolated showers in the morning.
The storm beginning late Sunday is expected to bring more widespread rain across Northern California and snow in the mountains.
Rain totals could be a quarter to half an inch in spots, and snow levels could be as low as 3500 feet.
After the weekend, we'll start to see cooler temperatures, with highs only reaching the mid- to high 50s on Monday and Tuesday.
