DIVISION I

FAVORITE

• No. 1 Pleasant Grove (19-8): Eagles are battle tested and led by captains Marissa Wimbley, Avonna Lee, Dejza James and Rachel Beebe.

CONTENDERS

• No. 3 Lincoln (21-5): Trojans have wins against Del Oro (twice), Inderkum, Oak Ridge and Antelope. There was also a recent 11-point loss to Pleasant Grove.

• No. 5 Monterey Trail (22-5): Welcome to the party, Mustangs, first-time league champions under first-year coach Louie Corpuz.

• No. 7 Sheldon (20-7): Brianna Burgos scorched Pleasant Grove for 29 points Friday.

DARK HORSE

• No. 12 St. Francis (15-12): Seems odd to list Troubadours as a dark horse, but they had to win their last game just to qualify.

DIVISION II

FAVORITE

• No. 1 St. Mary's (24-3): Rams seek 13th section title; crushed section powers Pleasant Grove, St. Francis, Lincoln-Stockton and Bradshaw Christian.

CONTENDERS

• No. 2 El Camino (23-4): Eagles seek sixth section title and first for Simone Sheppard, Jade Sowell-Hundon, Courtney Brignac and guard stopper Alexis Price.

• No. 3 McNair (24-3): Eagles have three starters 6-foot-2 or taller, making for tallest team in the section. Still, they have lost twice to St. Mary's.

• No. 4 Florin (22-5): Panthers have rebounders in Jordyn Bell, Daijah Joe-Smith and Dalayana Sampton, and shooter in Deja Conger.

• No. 5 Del Oro (17-10): Golden Eagles have veterans in Brianna Ruiz and gritty Stephanie Geyer, who wears a hockey-like face mask in games.

DARK HORSE

• No. 7 River City (25-2): The Raiders are co-league champs for first time behind leaders Jordan Ligons and Katie King.

DIVISION III

FAVORITE

• No. 1 Sacramento (21-6): Dragons' star power comes from Jasmine Ware, Jehiah Cook, Briana Womack and Ayanna Edwards.

CONTENDERS

• No. 2 Christian Brothers (21-6): Led by Ishana Burch, the Falcons have won six league titles under coach Ron Gulley.

• No. 3 Modesto Christian (22-5): The Crusaders, who seek sixth section title, split games with Pleasant Grove and lost by four points to Sacramento.

• No. 4 Vanden (19-7): The Vikings reached title game last season, losing to Sacramento. They return to the playoffs more balanced this year.

DARK HORSE

• No. 8 El Dorado (18-7): The Cougars feature playmakers in Courtney Macklin, Emily Boyd and hot-shooting Sam Reeder.

DIVISION IV

FAVORITE

• No. 4 Bear River (18-8): The Bruins beat rival Colfax by 21 last week for added momentum. Bear River enters the playoffs seeking its 11th section title.

CONTENDERS

• No. 1 Calaveras (24-3): Redskins have won 10 of 11 games with balance of offense and defense. School has one title-game appearance.

• No. 2 Colfax (16-8): Still smarting from big loss to Bear River, the Falcons are skilled enough to win program's 10th section title.

• No. 3 West Campus (20-5): Upstart Warriors are led by top scorer Haley Shaner.

DARK HORSES

• No. 9 San Juan (21-6): Young Spartans have never played for a section title and are a year removed from an eight-win season.

• No. 10 Bradshaw Christian (16-10): Coach Mike Ruble has won four consecutive Division V titles, warranting a move up in class. Guard Ashlee Jones is a key player.

• No. 4 Capital Christian (16-11): The Cougars are led by top scorer Haleigh Filer (17 points per game) on a team that averages 40 rebounds.

DIVISION VI

FAVORITE

• No. 1 Victory Christian (17-6): Team is flourishing behind leading scorers and rebounders in forwards Molly Huffman and Laura Neville.

• No. 2 Wilton Christian (16-4): The Patriots, who have 11 wins in a row, are led by inside force Kendra Jeffcott (22 points, 18 rebounds).

• No. 3 Trinity Prep (20-4): The Crusaders, who have won 14 of 15 games, have held nine foes to 21 or fewer points this season.

DARK HORSE

• No. 4 Faith Christian (16-6): Jesse Jimenez (15.5 points) leads the Lions, who posted the best record in school history.
