Older adults whose high school education was interrupted by war can apply to the Sacramento County Office of Education's Operation Recognition program for their high school diplomas.
The program was established in 2001 to recognize World War II and Korean War veterans as well as Japanese American citizens who were relocated to internment camp before graduating.
In 2005, the program was expanded to include Vietnam era veterans.
Applications are available at www.scoe.net/or or by calling (916) 228-2416.
County residents requesting Operation Recognition diplomas, either for themselves or for family members, should apply by April 25. A ceremony to award diplomas is scheduled May 15.
