Families are invited to attend a free workshop today that will help parents and students address bullying in schools and online.
Bullying prevention specialist Sheila Self, who works for Sacramento City Unified School District, will present research about bullying and the health implications on kids. A youth panel will discuss the experiences of being bullied.
The event will be hosted by La Familia from 4 to 6 p.m. at the organization's counseling center, 5523 34th St. in Sacramento.
Self said she hopes families come away from the workshop with ideas on how to identify bullying behavior and how to address it.
She said electronic bullying, such as through social media or texting, will be covered.
