There will be such a thing as a free lunch at an Oak Park gardening workshop Saturday.

The Diversity Coalition of Sacramento is offering a free lesson on how to grow and prepare fresh, healthy food.

UC Davis master gardeners will coach participants on how to create a garden in containers, even in a small space. Local chef Arturo Vargas will give a garden-to-plate cooking demonstration, and nutritionist Michele Lites will outline the benefits.

The workshop is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oak Park Community Center, 3425 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Lunch is included.

A reservation is required. To register, contact the American Cancer Society's Libby Del Rosario at (916) 446-7933 ext. 328 or libertine.delrosario@cancer.org.
