The real steal: Select from $3 or $5 cocktails such as Passion Rum Punch or Peach Bellini during happy hour at Paesanos. The specialty cocktail this month is the Absolut Dragon Fruit Lemonade with pomegranate, but expect a new one every four weeks or so. Their draft beers, house wine, well drinks and sangria are $3, and appetizers such as their fried ravioli and polenta fries are $4.

The vibe: This eccentric and artsy restaurant in midtown is filled with local artwork, with red brick walls and even a copper-covered bar. The bar against the side wall leads into the open kitchen where you can see some of the food being prepared for you. Black leather bar stools and dark wooden high tables are available, along with tables and chairs at the more typical heights. Against one wall are three oversize mirrors with red velvet "curtains" draped around each one. The open ceiling gives the place a warehouse-type feel, with exposed wooden beams and even a couple of skylights. Paesanos, simply put, is a blend of midtown.

Signature drink: The sangria is hands-down the house favorite. Made with red wine, white wine, dark rum, triple sec, orange juice, and lemon juice, this classic drink is a refreshing choice. Order a glass for yourself for $3 during happy hour, or a pitcher to split for $12.

Bathroom break: The private bathroom is very spacious and tucked away in the back of the restaurant. Inside, the same warm neutral tones of the restaurant show up. The dark tan to almost purple brown tiles on the floor are also placed on the bottom half of the wall. The other half of the wall is painted with a deep mustard yellow, and there is a large mirror above the sink for any touch-ups in between your drinks.

Alternative libations: Served on the rocks, the blood orange margarita is made with blood orange purée and a delectable combo of sweet and tart. This unique margarita is very popular at Paesanos and is $5 during happy hour.

Something extra: Happy hour works all over the restaurant, but the covered patio is definitely the favored spot. Heaters above you leave you feeling toasty while you enjoy your food and drink and people-watch. Seat yourself at the bistro tables and wicker wood chairs outside and enjoy the spring weather during happy hour.Casa Ramos
