Friends of Rachel Winkler of Cameron Park, whose slaying in January left her three young children without parents, are sponsoring a golf fundraiser next month in Yountville.

Winkler's husband, Todd, has been arrested in her death, and her children, Eva, 4, Ariel, 2, and Alex, 9 months, are living in Napa with their grandfather, artist Donald Hatfield. Hatfield, 64, who recently lost his wife to cancer and is struggling financially, is petitioning for permanent guardianship of the youngsters.

The benefit is scheduled April 13 at Vintner's Golf Club, 7901 Solano Ave., Yountville. The cost is $100 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, lunch on the course, dinner with wine, a putting contest and a complimentary bucket of balls at the driving range.

Proceeds will benefit a fund established to help Hatfield provide for his grandchildren. For more information, contact Jeff Dennis at

A fund for the Winkler children has been established in their mother's name. Details are available at
