An eight-mile stretch of Scott Road will be closed to vehicle traffic Sunday so that bicyclists and walkers can enjoy some of the prettiest country in Sacramento County.

Sacramento County will close Scott Road between White Rock Road and Latrobe Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The closure is part of Bike Month activities in Sacramento County.

Scott Road in the spring is bordered by lush, green grass that covers hillsides dotted by oak trees.

"It's a beautiful rural road and is truly a joy to travel on, especially on a bike," said Mike Penrose, county Transportation Department director.

Bicyclists and pedestrians can enter at either end of Scott Road. However, parking will be available only at the Latrobe Road end of Scott Road.
