Concert, barbecue and maybe a trim

What: Harley White Jr. Orchestra and headlining band McNasty will perform as part of the Old Hwy 99 Festival Concert Series. There will be an all-you-can-eat barbecue and a spoken-word presentation by 9-year-old poet Rodney Brown Jr. Haircutting will take place in barber chairs near the seating area.

Where: Master Barber and Beauty Shop, 4340 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento.

When: 1 to 4 p.m.

Cost: Concert is free; barbecue is $8 to $14

Confluence of art and film in the park

What: Friends of Fremont Park and the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission will dedicate the park's installation of new 8-foot sculptures "Confluence." Artist Stephanie Taylor will discuss the background and historic elements of her creations. Later, Friends of Fremont Park will show the film "Kung Fu Panda 2" for its Family Movie Night.

Where: 16th and Q streets, Sacramento

When: Dedication, 5:30 p.m.; film, 7:45 p.m.

Art, wine intertwine

What: Artists and vintners will present their creations at the ninth annual El Dorado Hills Art and Wine Affaire. Nearly 100 artists are expected to display their works, as will 20 El Dorado County wineries. There also will be live entertainment at the Town Center Amphitheater and festival grounds. Proceeds benefit the Arts in Education programs of the El Dorado Arts Council, Friends of Youth programs of the El Dorado Hills Optimist Club and the El Dorado Hills community outreach programs of the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Where: Latrobe Road and Town Center Boulevard, El Dorado Hills.

When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days

Cost: Free admission (fee for wine tasting)

Bake sale for MOM

What: Goods donated by area bakeries can be purchased at the Sacramento Zoo as part of a special Mother's Day fundraiser. Proceeds from the sale and raffle will benefit Missing Orangutan Mothers, which aids orphaned orangutans in the wild.

Where: Land Park Drive and Sutterville Drive, Sacramento (Table will be set up near the orangutan exhibit)

When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: Zoo admission: $11 general, $9.75 seniors, $7 for children 3 to 12, free for children 2 and younger

Take Mom for a ride

What: A treat awaits mothers during a special Mother's Day Excursion Train Rides at the California State Railroad Museum. Complimentary double-fudge-dipped cake pops will be given (while supplies last) to all mothers who take a train ride.

Where: Train ride tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Sacramento Southern Railroad ticket office on Front Street, between J and K streets, in Old Sacramento.

When: 10:30 to 5 p.m.

Cost: $10 general, $5 for youths 6 to 17, free for children 5 and younger.
