The California Highway Patrol's Valley Division office is looking for senior volunteers to assist officers and staff with a range of duties in the office and in the field.
Volunteers must be 55 or older, able to work at least four hours a week, and must meet several other requirements. They will receive a volunteer uniform and badge.
Volunteers can help by doing "whatever they are comfortable doing," said Adrian Quintero, CHP spokesman. Their responsibilities might include traffic control, clerical functions in the office, shuttling CHP vehicles or helping officers at the scene of a collision.
About 700 senior volunteers assist the CHP statewide.
