The Sacramento River Cats are America's most valuable minor league baseball team, according to Forbes magazine.
The magazine pegged the team's market value at $32 million. The team's annual operating income was estimated at $9.7 million on revenue of $20 million.
Forbes noted that minor league baseball can be a huge bonanza for team owners because they don't pay players' or coaches' salaries. Those expenses are handled by the parent club - the Oakland A's, in Sacramento's case.
The Lehigh Valley (Pa.) IronPigs and Round Rock (Texas) Express were tied for the second most valuable teams. Forbes estimated their worth at $26 million apiece.
