A rapidly moving grass fire burned 10 acres and threatened homes Saturday afternoon in El Dorado County.
The fire, which began at 2:35 p.m., forced the evacuation of 12 homes near Luneman Road and Pimlico Lane in Rescue, said Daniel Berlant, spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
"It was perfect conditions for a fire to get out of control," Berlant said of the high temperatures and low humidity.
The fire burned up to the property line of some homes, but only an outbuilding was consumed by flames. The fire was fully contained by 4 p.m., Berlant said.
