Critical Hit does Comic-Con

What: Critical Hit, an all-geek sketch comedy act, will send up San Diego's comic-book convention, Comic-Con. Sketch comedians will re-create the San Diego convention's celebrity panels, answering audience questions while in character. Other highlights include "George Lucas' " first attempt at stand-up comedy and a sneak peek at "Gotham Legal," a new reality show about super-villain defense attorneys.

Another Damn Disappointment

What: Punk band Another Damn Disappointment headlines the Concerts in the Park. This weekly summer event has turned into a real party with food trucks and designated after-parties following the music. Another bonus: valet bike parking. Also on the bill are the Walking Dead, A Single Second and the Left Hand. DJ Blackheart will spin tunes between acts.

When: 5-8:30 p.m.

Scott Cooper

What: Guitarist-singer Scott Cooper, best known for fronting the Grateful Dead tribute band China Cats, performs a solo acoustic show. The Bay Area veteran has just released a solo CD, "A Leg Trick," a bluesy Americana collection of tunes written by Scott except for a cover of Warren Zevon's "Accidentally Like a Martyr." In addition to playing guitar, Scott plays bass, drums and keyboards on the CD with cameos from band members of Galactic, Little Feat, Great American Taxi, the Doobie Brothers and others.

Po' Boyz Summer Blues Fest 2012

What: Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy an evening of blues. Be forewarned, you won't be able to stay seated once Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers break out "Chicken Shack Boogie." Blues harp player Piazza and the Mighty Flyers have played gigs around the world and have recorded over a dozen releases. Also on the bill are Chicago blues guitarists Lurrie Bell and John Primer. Sacramento's Bobby "Blue" Ray and the Bay Area's Alabama Mike open the show.

When: 2-7 p.m.

Where: Sacramento Horseman's Association, 3200 Longview Drive, Sacramento
