Kallie Myers let out two ear-piercing screams, hours apart at the 75th All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio.

One yell came from fear, the other from delight.

"This is so unbelievable," said Myers, 17, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, tears of joy filling her eyes after overcoming a scary early-morning crash to race to victory Saturday in the Super Stock Division.

Earlier, Myers also was in tears after winning her first heat of the day – then getting rammed into after crossing the finish line by a competitor who lost control of his car.

"I was so scared and was screaming so loud, they heard me all over," Myers said.

After winning it all, Myers hugged her dad, Matt. She was surrounded by other several family members, including brother Matt, who competed in the 2005 finals.

Among the others crowned world champions was 12-year-old Alexander Khachigian of Vallejo in the Stock Division.

Roddick in Atlanta final

• No. 4 seed Andy Roddick beat top-seeded John Isner 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-4 in the semifinals of the Atlanta Open.

Roddick will play Luxembourg's Gilles Muller, who knocked off No. 8 Go Soeda of Japan 6-4, 6-3.

A victory over Muller would give Roddick his 32nd ATP World Tour title and second in his past three events.

• At the Mercury Insurance Open in Carlsbad, top-seeded Marion Bartoli of France beat qualifier Chan Yung-Jan of Taiwan 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach today's final.

Bartoli will face second-seeded Dominika Cibulkova, who beat Nadia Petrova 7-6 (8), 6-1.

Brees backs Vilma

• New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees defended teammate Jonathan Vilma in a court document to support Vilma's fight against the NFL.

The affidavit was entered in New Orleans federal court as evidence for Vilma's motion to dismiss the suspension imposed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for the linebacker's alleged involvement in a bounty program. Vilma also has sued Goodell, claiming defamation.

• New York Jets All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis expects to report Thursday to the team's training camp rather than hold out in a contract dispute, a person familiar with the decision said.

• Mike Lynn, the longtime Minnesota Vikings executive who made the ill-fated trade with Dallas for Herschel Walker, has died. He was 76.

General

• Former Ohio State running back and Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George, former Florida State defensive back Deion Sanders and ex-Michigan coach Lloyd Carr were among those enshrined into the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Ind.

• Greg Stiemsma agreed to terms on an offer sheet with the Minnesota Timberwolves, his agent said. Terms of the deal were not available. The Boston Celtics have three days to match the offer for the restricted free agent but are not expected to do so.

• The Dallas Mavericks signed first-round draft pick Jared Cunningham of Oregon State. Terms were not disclosed.

• Belmont Stakes winner Union Rags has been retired because of a tendon injury in his left front leg.
