SAN FRANCISCO-OAKLAND BAY BRIDGE

Unspecified testing data irregularities were found involving reinforced concrete piles 2 and 5 of the unopened eastern span main tower foundation, which has 13 piles in all. The Bee previously reported doubts voiced by independent experts about the testing of piles 3 and 8. A Bee review of test data also found unexplained gaps in data files for Pile 4. Multiple data problems also were reported involving the San Francisco approach to the western side of the span (above).

BENICIA-MARTINEZ BRIDGE

At least 14 separate data problems included at least one considered to have "consequential" impact. The I-680 North to I-780 West interchange (above), north of the bridge, also showed possible data tampering.

DUMBARTON BRIDGE

At least one unspecified problem found.

RICHMOND-SAN RAFAEL BRIDGE

Caltrans engineers found at least one unspecified problem. Federal Highway Administration investigators reported possible evidence of falsification of data caused by copying and pasting of data between test files.
