U.S. Forest Service and California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention crews on Monday successfully contained a small fire burning southeast of Jenkinson Lake in El Dorado County.

The Hazel fire was reported Sunday afternoon off Mormon Emigrant Trail, near the Sly Park reservoir southeast of Pollock Pines. Crews worked through the night, securing a line around the southern end of the wildfire.

Thirty-four acres of timber and brush burned and no structures. A cause had not been determined.
