Highlight: Khris Davis singled in two runs with two outs in the seventh to give Nashville the lead. The Sounds went on to a 5-3 win Monday night at Raley Field to snap the River Cats' six-game winning streak.
Rally shut down: The River Cats loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth, but Daric Barton popped up to the infield, and Grant Green and Shane Peterson struck out against former River Cats reliever Fautino De Los Santos, who was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers on July 29.
Hitting streaks update: Green extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a second-inning double. Anthony Recker singled in the eighth inning to extend his streak to 10. However, Daric Barton (0 for 3) had his streak end at 11.
Pennington ready: Rehabilitating Cliff Pennington went 2 for 4 with a walk. He has five hits in 11 at-bats in three games with the River Cats.
