BENEFIT IRIS SALE

Hosted by the Winters Friends of the Library, this third annual sale benefits the community library. The Yolo-grown rhizome sale features more than 70 varieties of bearded iris donated by former Yolo County Supervisor Frank Seiferman and his family. With rhizomes priced at $2 each, the sale ends when they're all gone. Bring your own bags and marking pen.


SONOMA COUNTY FAIR FLOWER SHOW PLANT SALE

Where: Sonoma County fairgrounds, 1350 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa

When: Starts at 7 a.m. Monday

Take home the makings of blue-ribbon displays. The Sonoma County Fair, which wraps up this weekend, features one of the prettiest flower shows on the fair circuit. On Monday morning after the fair closes, the show's plants are up for sale. Arrive early for best selection.

This guided tour explores the cathedral-like cool and quiet of the arboretum's mature redwood grove. Learn about the redwood forest and the plants that love to share its shade.


SALSA CONTEST

Where: Flower Hut Nursery, 603 Fourth St. at Highway 65, Wheatland

When: 10 a.m. deadline next Saturday

Drop off your salsa by 10 a.m. Catergories will be hottest, tastiest and best overall. Anyone who drops by the nursery will serve as taste testers and judges. Winners will be notified in the afternoon.

FIFTH ANNUAL WOODLAND TOMATO FESTIVAL
