Fire crews on Wednesday night were close to corralling a wildland fire in the Pilot Hill area that prompted voluntary evacuations for some residents of the rural area.
The Salmon fire burned 108 acres and was reported 90 percent contained Wednesday night.
The fire was reported at 2:23 p.m. in the area of Salmon Falls and Gallagher roads, said Teri Mizuhara, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's Amador-El Dorado Unit.
She said some structures were threatened.
Sgt. Phil Chovanec of the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office said a voluntary evacuation was in effect Wednesday afternoon for residents of Equestrian Way and Hound Hollow Road.
Mizuhara said the fire was burning in an area of oak woodlands.
