Tips sought after fires damage two preschools in Carmichael

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to two fires in a little more than two hours at area preschools.

At 11:13 p.m. Friday, a fire was reported at Phoenix Preschool, 2921 Garfield Ave. According to a Metro Fire news release, the fire was contained to one structure. No one was injured.

At 1:19 a.m. Saturday, a structure fire was reported at a Montessori Preschool at 5619 Marconi Ave. Crews contained the blaze to one structure. No injuries were reported.

The preschools are about two blocks from each other. Metro Fire did not say whether the fires are related. They are both being investigated.

Preliminary investigations indicate that both fires appear to have been intentionally set, officials said.

Metro Fire is asking anyone with information regarding the fires to call the arson tip line at (916) 859-3775.
