Scott's Seafood Grill & Bar
9611 Greenback Lane, Folsom
Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Sunday
Happy hour: 3-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, 4 p.m.-close Sunday
Fish Taco Tuesdays: 4-10 p.m. Tuesdays
Shuck 'Em and Shake 'Em Thursdays: 4-10 p.m. Thursdays
The real steal: Select from $3 draft beers, $3.50 premium draft beers, $4 wine by the glass and well drinks, and the rotating $6 daily cocktail. Appetizers range from $1.50 to $6.95, including house favorites such as the togarashi crispy prawns and fresh-shucked oysters.
On Tuesdays, the usual happy-hour deals exist, but from 4-10 p.m., you also can get two fish tacos for $3. Coronas are $3 and margaritas $4.
On "Shuck 'Em and Shake 'Em" Thursdays, the restaurant offers specials on oysters and a list of martinis and cocktails for $6.
The vibe: This upscale restaurant benefits from large windows that allow in plenty of sunlight, and from local artist Bill Kuyper's metal structures depicting fish and kelp. The kelp was designed to have "movement" as it does in kelp forests. The artwork gives Scott's a touch of an underwater feel. Artist Stephanie Taylor's ceramic fish enhance the design.
A square-shaped bar adds to the restaurant's social vibe by letting you face fellow patrons rather than a wall of liquor.
Outside is a patio with a view of Folsom, for dining on a pleasant afternoon.
Signature drink: The pomegranate lemon drop is very popular at Scott's. Made with Grey Goose Le Citron, PAMA liqueur and fresh pomegranate juice, it is definitely strong, but the alcohol taste stays hidden with a sweet-and-sour flavor bursting through. This drink is $6 on Thursday nights.
Bathroom break: A three-stall bathroom is tucked away toward the front of the restaurant. Inside is a fully mirrored wall, with artwork and a bench for sitting on the opposite side.
Alternative libations: The raspberry jack lemonade was inspired by a dessert at Scott's, the raspberry jack. The cocktail, like the dessert, is made with raspberries soaked in Triple Sec. Sobieski citrus vodka and a splash of fresh-squeezed lemonade produce a cocktail that is slightly sweet but tart. On Thursday nights, it is $6.
Something extra: The restaurant includes 150-year-old windows from Tunisia.
