Sacramento weather should be warm and clear for this weekend's air show

The Thunderbirds Jet Demonstration Team and other aircraft that will be buzzing over the California Capital Airshow this weekend will enjoy clear skies with light breezes, but spectators on the ground at Mather Field could heat up, National Weather Service Spokesman Johnnie Powell reports.

"It's about as good as it gets for September - about 93 degrees, 3 degrees above the average," Powell said. "It should be pretty close to perfect here over the weekend. You've got clear skies, the winds are southerly at seven miles an hour."

But folks standing or sitting on the concrete pavement "are going to get hot out there," Powell said. Sunday's temperatures will be milder - in the mid 80s when southwest winds and marine air cool things off. But winds may not pick up until late Sunday, with gusts of up to 25 mph.

Monday will continue with a high around 88-89 degrees, Powell said, "and no storms are in sight.'
