GREATS COMING TO GRASS VALLEY
Haggards, Elliott and more
What: Merle Haggard (the "Bard of Bakersfield") and his son, Noel, headline a cavalcade of country crooners at next weekend's music mini-festival at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The Center for the Arts sponsors the event. Julie Baker, the center's executive director, said the fairgrounds are an ideal setting for live music. "We've added some of our favorite songwriters to the bill to create a mini-festival of great country music," she said in a statement. Other performers include Ramblin' Jack Elliott (shown below) and the Nevada County Songwriters. Vendors will be on hand to provide food and beverages, and camping is available. Bring seats and blankets, but no glass containers or coolers.
When: Gates open at 4 p.m. Saturday; 5-7 p.m., showcase featuring the songwriters; 7:30 p.m., Ramblin' Jack Elliott; 8 p.m., Noel Haggard; 8:30 p.m., Merle Haggard
