Raiders Blog: Raiders, Reece reach extension

Despite lining up in a variety of positions Monday night -- in the backfield, flanking quarterback Carson Palmer, out wide -- Marcel Reece had just three touches against the Chargers. It was a similar story in the preseason, when Reece was seldom targeted. But that doesn't mean the versatile fullback isn't in the Raiders' long-term plans.

The Raiders announced today they've finalized a contract extension with Reece, the terms of which were not disclosed. Reece had a career-high 27 catches for 301 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games last year, when he was named a Pro Bowl alternate.

In 31 career games with the Raiders since they signed him in 2008 as an undrafted free agent, Reece has 56 catches for 674 yards and 48 carries for 234 yards.

Reece missed some early offseason workouts this year before signing his exclusive rights tender in hopes he and the Raiders could reach a long-term deal. The 26-year-old has said he wants to be a "Raider for life."
