Preps Then and Now: Corey Vanderbeek, Granite Bay football

Now: The former Grizzly is a junior defensive back for Sacramento State. Vanderbeek had one tackle in the Hornets' 30-28 win at Colorado on Saturday. He appeared in all 11 games for the Hornets in 2011 on defense and special teams. He appeared in all 11 games in 2010, primarily on special teams, and blocked a punt against Northern Colorado.

Then: In 2008, Vanderbeek was a second-team All-Metro defensive back. He had 34 tackles, and returned four interceptions 126 yards. He averaged 10.25 yards per punt return and scored two touchdowns, one on a pass reception. He set a school record with a 96-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 36-10 nonleague win over Reno.
