Re “State must nail down off-road vehicle funds” (Editorial, Sept. 7): Our audit of the California State Parks Department is one of several reviews and investigations now underway. While the Attorney General’s investigation is focused on budget irregularities, our audit is a comprehensive review of all of the Parks Department’s fiscal and accounting practices.
Our staff are in the process of examining everything from cash management and credit card use to payroll procedures and travel expenses.
Once our audit is completed, our findings will be made available to the Legislature and to the public. And while we are anxious to have it completed as soon as possible, we also want to make sure that we take the time necessary for our work to be thorough.
In the wake of this summer’s revelations, restoring the public’s confidence in its Parks Department is paramount to the Governor. Our audit is one of several steps in that process.

• Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.
