The real steal: Happy hour is called "a taste of Paul Martin's" since it covers a lot. All hand-crafted draft beers are $4, cocktails are $4 or $8, and wine by the glass and appetizers are $4, $8 or $12.

Street tacos and maple cider all-natural chicken skewers cost $4. For $8, you can nibble on mesquite- grilled steak skewers or slow-cooked St. Louis-style pork ribs. And for $12, you get a burger, fries and a beer.

The vibe: A mix of upscale features and rustic elegance are in this bistro, which has dim ambient lighting and light music. The flameless candles and faux flowers add to the elegance. The exposed piping, wooden bar and furniture, as well as the brown-and-black color scheme, enhance the urban feel.

If you would like to sit outside, Paul Martin's offers two patios.

Signature drink: The $4 raspberry martini is made with a house- infused raspberry vodka, lemon juice and sweet vermouth. Contrary to what you might expect with this drink, you get more of a martini than a raspberry cocktail. There isn't an overpoweringly sweet flavor, but rather a touch of freshly muddled raspberries.

Alternative libation: The $8 mai tai is made with Sailor Jerry rum, orange Curaçao, homemade almond orgeat syrup and fresh lime juice, for a stronger, rather than sweeter, version of the classic Hawaiian cocktail.

Something extra: Enjoy local, sustainable ingredients at Paul Martin's. All cocktails are infused in-house, every piece of meat is hand-cut by the restaurant's chefs, and fish is delivered daily.

Wednesday night is pint night for ages 21 and older, with $1 pints and a limited late-night menu with calamari, buffalo wings, garlic Parmesan fries and avocado egg rolls.
