The Bee's Joe Davidson previews five games tonight:
No. 7 Burbank (2-0) at No. 5 Del Oro (0-2), 7:30 p.m.
The Golden Eagles are ready to play a regional team after falling to state powers Oaks Christian and Westlake from Southern California. Burbank will run with Curtis Green, Ernest Jenkins and Isaiah Williams to counter the power-run game of Del Oro featuring Brandon Monroe.
No. 2 Franklin (3-0) at No. 12 Cosumnes Oaks (3-0), 7:15 p.m.
At long last, these neighboring Elk Grove schools, which share the same stadium, will face off for bragging rights. Franklin can run with a number of running backs, including Steven Rogers, and it has a playmaker in wide receiver-defensive back Tre Lampley. Cosumnes Oaks has an emerging quarterback in Alex Kropp and a wide receiver recruit in Alex Van Dyke.
No. 3 Pleasant Grove (2-1) at No. 13 Inderkum (2-0), 7:15 p.m.
The Inderkum Tigers, who wanted to schedule some top programs, get their wish. The Eagles, traditionally a running team, are pass-happy this season, with quarterback Dre Terrell connecting with Wyatt Demps four times for touchdowns in a 29-28 win over previous No. 2 Nevada Union. Inderkum runs a lot out of the wing-T, and it will defend with standout lineman Dedric Allen.
Vacaville (2-0) at No. 6 Granite Bay (0-2), 7:30 p.m.
This is always a classic, and both are defending Sac-Joaquin Section champions Granite Bay in Division I and Vacaville in D-II. Granite Bay plays its first home game after losing to state powers Westlake and Oaks Christian.
No. 11 Grant (1-2) at No. 10 Oak Ridge (3-0), 7:15 p.m.
The Pacers face yet another tall task after losing consecutive games to Nevada Union and Burbank. Oak Ridge has a fine quarterback in Jason Samuels, fresh off a four-touchdown game. Grant looks to win the battle on the line of scrimmage after getting pushed around lately.
