A collision of a ski boat and another power boat Saturday evening on Englebright Lake left two people dead and another two transported to the hospital with injuries, according to the Yuba County Sheriff's Department.
"We are still trying to confirm whether there's anyone else involved," said Lt. Damon Gil late Saturday. "We're doing a search to confirm the exact number of people who were on each boat."
Investigators are looking into how the accident, which took place about 7 p.m., occurred on the lake, which is west of Grass Valley.
Rescuers included the Yuba County sheriff's deputies and boat patrol, the Nevada County Sheriff's Department and dive team as well as the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Gil said.
