Sacramento area weather: Temperatures to hover in mid- to upper-80s all week

The stretch of 90-degree days in Sacramento ended Monday when the city recorded a high of 87 downtown.

Prior to Monday, Sacramento experienced 15 consecutive days of 90 degrees or higher temperatures, falling short of the record 20 days set in 1899.

The National Weather Service expects that moderate winds through the delta will persist the next few days, helping to keep temperatures in the 80s.

The NWS forecast for the next week in the Sacramento region:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 85. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable in the morning.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 55. West southwest wind 7 to 10 mph becoming south after midnight.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 5 to 7 mph.

Wednesday night: Clear, with a low around 55. South wind around 9 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 86. South southwest wind around 7 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 87.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 57.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 82.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 55.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82.
