For 25 years, The Bee has dedicated the holiday season to fulfilling the dreams of individuals and groups who can't provide for themselves through the Book of Dreams. And since 1987, Bee readers have opened their hearts to the compelling stories featured in the newspaper.
Last year was unprecedented in Book of Dreams history. The Bee's readers contributed more than $206,000, which fulfilled 14 "dreams" and provided grants to 19 organizations in the region. In addition, each food bank in the area received a grant during the busy holiday season. Outside of the dreams fulfilled, an additional $57,400 was granted to community organizations that assist the less fortunate in our community.
As we celebrate the 25th year of Book of Dreams, we are opening up the nomination process for 2012. Through Oct. 1, we will accept nominations for this year's effort. To nominate an individual, family or nonprofit organization, please go to www.sacbee.com/ bookofdreams.
