NASA on Wednesday provided more specifics on when the shuttle Endeavour, riding atop a modified 747 shuttle carrier, will appear over Sacramento skies on Friday.
The shuttle and its carrier landed in Houston on Wednesday - on schedule for a low-level Sacramento flyover in two days.
Plans call for it to depart Houston at dawn today and arrive at Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California after a fuel stop in El Paso. On Friday, it is scheduled to depart from Edwards and loop around California before landing at Los Angeles International Airport.
Los Angeles is the final destination of the shuttle, which will eventually be exhibited at the California Science Center.
The flyover of the state Capitol is expected to be at 230 mph and at an altitude of 1,500 feet. The exact flight itinerary is subject to change.
NASA is encouraging social media users to share their Endeavour sightings with the hash tags #spottheshuttle and #ov105 (the Endeavour's vehicle designation).
