Sacramento-area Sutter hospitals stood out on a list of the nation's top performers in an annual report released Wednesday by the Joint Commission, the Illinois-based nonprofit health care accreditation organization.
Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento was one of 244 hospitals to be on the list two years in a row. Statewide, seven Sutter Health network hospitals made the list.
Nationwide, 620 hospitals earned "Top Performer on Key Quality Measures" recognition.
Sutter Medical Center, which includes both Sutter General Hospital and Sutter Memorial Hospital, was recognized for high performance in care of heart attacks, heart failure and pneumonia. Two of Sutter Medical Center's sister hospitals in the Sacramento region Sutter Davis Hospital and Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital were recognized as top performers in connection with pneumonia and surgical care.
Heritage Oaks Hospital, a private 125-bed acute psychiatric facility in Sacramento, also made the list, recognized for inpatient psychiatric services.
