Re "California businesses want changes to cap-and-trade market" (Business, Sept. 20): Old manufacturing and dirty energy industries, represented by their high-paid lobbyists, are doing their best to derail AB 32, the state's clean energy law.
Voters said "no" when they made similar attempts in 2010 with the defeat of Proposition 23. Lawmakers said "no" when they tried to pass a law to get more freebies.
It is indeed a last-ditch effort from the manufacturers association and oil companies, which are knowingly misleading their members by telling them that by protesting, perhaps the Air Resources Board will change its mind.
The governor and ARB should listen to the real heavyweights in our business community, like the thousands of small and medium-sized business employers that are the engine of our state's economy who continue to call on the state to stay the course on AB 32.

• Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.
