Sacramento is on pace to break the September record for most days of 90-degree or warmer weather.
The current record for 90-degree or greater days stands at 24. The city so far this month has had 21 days of 90-degree or hotter weather.
The National Weather Service expects the mercury to rise to at least 90 through Sunday, the last day of the month. It that holds true, the September record would be broken on Saturday.
The detailed, 7-day forecast for the Sacramento region from the NWS:
Today: Sunny, with a high near 90. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph.
Tonight: Clear, with a low around 58. West southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south southeast after midnight.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 95. South southeast wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon.
Thursday night: Clear, with a low around 60. West southwest wind around 6 mph becoming south in the evening.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 95. South wind around 6 mph becoming west southwest in the morning.
Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.
Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 96.
Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.
Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 99.
Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 59.
Monday: Sunny, with a high near 93.
Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 91.
