Randy Pench rpench@sacbee.com The Feather River Hatchery in Oroville killed thousands of salmon this month in an effort to restore genetic diversity to salmon runs. The practice of culling these fish is new to Feather River but has been a regular practice elsewhere. The culled salmon will be donated to a food bank.
