Re "Sacramento needs to grow political spine" (Marcos Breton, Sept. 30): Sacramento County supervisors recently made a decision to move the homeless population off of the American River Parkway. This knee-jerk decision will result in moving the homeless population into the central city, leaving residents to deal with displaced homeless people who are frustrated, inebriated, and sometimes hostile. The homeless are taking over our parks, defecating in our alleys and sleeping wherever they can.
This is a complex issue. You have the mentally ill, the drug abusers, criminals who have been released from prison, people who are down on their luck and many other stories.
While I don't agree with Breton on several issues, I concur that we are lacking strong regional leadership. Moving the homeless into the central city will destroy the vibrant community residents and businesses are trying to create. We need a regional plan built on dignity and respect for the homeless.

• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.
