042 Dawn on North Lake

Bee/Dave Henry
Dawn on North Lake can be exciting and frustrating because the scene is spectacular but the pre-dawn cold is made worse with a slight breeze. Just after sunrise the wind began to subside making this reflection possible. I used a two-stop graduated neutral density filter to bring the brighter top half of the scene into the same brightness range of the reflection. This photo was made on September 29, 2012 with a Canon 5D MkIII camera using a Canon 16-35mm zoom set to 24mm. The exposure was 1/500 sec. at f/11 using ISO 400 with a Polarizing filter and 2x GND. 042
