The El Dorado County Registrar of Voters Office will offer early voting beginning Monday.
This is the first day voters may cast a ballot for the Nov. 6 consolidated general election. Vote-by-mail ballots will be mailed to voters on Tuesday, according to a county Elections Department news release.
Early voting will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in the elections office at 2850 Fairlane Court in Placerville and at the Recorder-Clerks Office, 3368 Lake Tahoe Blvd., No. 108, in South Lake Tahoe. The South Lake Tahoe office is closed from noon to 1 p.m. daily for lunch.
Anyone wishing to cast a ballot in the county during early voting must be a registered voter in El Dorado County. Oct. 22 is the deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election. Re-registration is required if voters change address or surname and is recommended if the voter's signature has changed since the original voter registration card was submitted.
The Elections Department also announced that a 24-hour drop-off ballot box has been moved to the southwest side of the roundabout in the county's Building C parking lot. Signs in the lot at 2850 Fairlane Court will direct voters to the new location.
More than 4,400 voters deposited ballots in the drop-off box for the June primary election, according to Bill Schultz, county registrar of voters.
