Toy train meet

What: Rail enthusiasts can see and buy toy trains, parts, accessories and related items at the River City Toy Train Meet at the Scottish Rite Center. There will be many operating train layouts and displays at the event, sponsored by the Toy Train Operating Society, Sacramento Valley Division.

Where: 6151 H St., Sacramento.

When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: Adult admission, $5; families, $9; children 11 and younger are admitted free if accompanied by an adult. Free parking.

Big time, pumpkins

What: The pumpkin and produce weigh-off, plus a pumpkin regatta, are highlights of the annual Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival. There will also be carnival games, a pumpkin patch, dancing, live music and more at Elk Grove Regional Park. The pumpkin and produce weighing is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, with awards being announced at 4 p.m. Last year's pumpkin winner tipped the scales at 1,684.5 pounds. The regatta, featuring pumpkin tubs across Strauss Lake, will be at noon Sunday.

When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Cost: Free admission; parking is $5 per car.

Lambtown in Dixon

What: Lamb-based food, music, dancers, and arts and crafts booths will be featured at Dixon's Lambtown Festival. The annual event at the Dixon May Fair Grounds will feature craft booths, competitions and a variety of food celebrating the lamb industry.

Where: 655 S. First St., Dixon.

When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

Cost: Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children age 6 to 13, and free for children 5 and younger.

Asian food, bazaar

What: A diverse menu and entertainment acts will be presented at the Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church's Asian Food and Cultural Bazaar. Food items will include teriyaki chicken, sushi, sesame chicken, chow mein, udon, and Korean short ribs cooked on site. Sacramento Taiko Dan, Ohana Dance (hula) and Na Aikane Ukulele will perform. The church is also sponsoring a food drive for the South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership Food Closet. Attendees are invited to bring a can of food to the event.

When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: Free entry.

Dance to the music

What: The fifth annual World Music & Dance Festival, an event celebrating Sacramento's cultural and ethnic diversity, takes place in Old Sacramento. The festival will feature more than 200 performances reflecting more than 40 ethnicities, cultures and nations. An opening performance – "Spotlight on: AFRICA!" – will be at Waterfront Park.

Where: Old Sacramento.

When: Opening performance: 6 to 9 p.m. today; festival: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Cost: Opening performance, $5 per person; festival is free.
