MATCHUP TO WATCH
49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman vs. Bills running back C.J. Spiller
The explosive Spiller is averaging more than eight yards a carry and had runs of 56 yards and 38 yards in the Bills' first two games. What's more, he's become good at catching balls out of the backfield and averages 13.2 yards a reception. His speed will challenge Bowman and Patrick Willis, the fastest inside linebacker duo in the NFL. Bowman leads the 49ers and is second in the league in tackles through four weeks.
THREE KEYS TO GAME
The 49ers' offensive line got an excellent push last week against the Jets but will find the Bills' defensive line harder to shove around. The 49ers have sung the praises of defensive tackle Kyle Williams, calling him one of the most underrated defenders in the game.
The 49ers must throw deep to Randy Moss, who was targeted only once against the Jets. The veteran wide receiver has been used as a decoy on running plays. Defenses, however, won't be deceived if the ball never goes in Moss' direction.
The 49ers must clog Ryan Fitzpatrick's throwing lanes as they did Mark Sanchez's in New York. Fitzpatrick is streaky, and he releases the ball quickly to avoid sacks.
