A pedestrian crossing a street died early Monday when he was hit by a vehicle in south Sacramento.
The 27-year-old man walking across West Stockton Boulevard near Sheldon Road was struck about 4:30 a.m. by a vehicle traveling north, according to Sacramento police.
The man, who was not immediately identified, was declared dead at the scene. The vehicle's driver stopped and waited for police to arrive.
There are no indications that drugs or alcohol were involved, and there were no crosswalks in the area, said police Officer Doug Morse. He said it appeared the collision was an accident and not the result of any criminal activity.
Anyone who witnessed this collision is asked to call Detective Doug Tracy at (916) 808-6057 or dispatch at (916) 264-5471.
