A penny a day. That's all you get.
California gas prices continued their slow descent today. AAA put the statewide average price of unleaded regular this morning at $4.645, down a fraction from $4.659 on Thursday.
On average, prices have been declining a penny a day from Tuesday's all-time record of $4.671.
National gas price tracker GasBuddy.com had the average price of a gallon of gas in California at $4.62, also down a penny from $4.63 on Thursday.
In Sacramento, AAA said the average for unleaded regular today is $4.52 a gallon, a penny less than $4.53 on Thursday.
Energy analysts blame the recent surge in prices on supply disruptions at refineries throughout California. Those same analysts have expressed dismay at the slow decline in at-the-pump costs despite a sharp decrease in wholesale gas prices in California.
Analysts believe some stations are holding the price line as they deplete tanks of fuel purchased at the high end of the market last week.
